Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has been cleared to contest the presidential primary election of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 elections.

Speaking in a statement via his 𝕏 Account on Wednesday, Obi disclosed that the screening, which lasted over two and a half hours, took place on Tuesday.

According to him, the screening committee, led by the former Governor of Ebonyi State, Sam Egwu, reviewed all his documents, including degree certificates, NYSC credentials, and age declarations.

Obi added that he also spoke about his vision for Nigeria and the type of leadership he would provide if eventually elected President.

The presidential aspirant who appreciated the democratic process instituted by the NDC noted that the screening committee was very professional in their approach.

He wrote, “Yesterday, May 19th, in Abuja, I attended the Presidential screening organised by our party, which took over two and a half hours. They carefully reviewed all my documents, including my degree certificates, NYSC credentials, and age declarations.

“During the process, I also addressed questions regarding my vision for a new Nigeria and the type of leadership our nation urgently needs right now. Following this, I was cleared and received the presidential nomination form I had previously paid for.
