Suspected NYSC Member Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing Dad To Death In Abuja
It was gathered that the confrontation began after the deceased questioned his son over alleged anti-social behaviour and his late return from a club, a situation that escalated into violence.
A man suspected to be a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has allegedly stabbed his father, Mr Adimike Godwin, to death during a domestic dispute at their residence in the Guzape area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday at about 11:12pm following a disagreement between the father and son at their family home, according to Daily Trust.
It was gathered that the confrontation began after the deceased questioned his son over alleged anti-social behaviour and his late return from a club, a situation that escalated into violence.
Sources also said the disagreement was linked to allegations of mismanagement of business funds involving the suspect.
Neighbours were said to have been alerted by distress from the residence and promptly contacted security operatives, but the suspect allegedly fled the scene before police arrival.
The deceased, who was involved in the real estate business, had reportedly travelled from Lagos to Abuja to visit his son when the incident occurred.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said investigations had commenced, stating: “The FCT Police Command is investigating the death of Mr Adimike Godwin of Guzape, which was discovered following a distress call.”
She further provided details of police response at the scene, adding: “On arrival, the police found the injured victim in a pool of his own blood. He was confirmed dead by doctors on duty at Karu General Hospital. The police have taken five suspects, including a relative, into custody as part of a discreet investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi.”
She also urged members of the public to assist ongoing investigations.
