Tinubu Approves Nigeria As Host Of 2026 CAF Awards, CAF Assembly

President Bola Tinubu has approved Nigeria’s bid to host the 2026 CAF Awards and the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, the approval was granted during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi after a meeting between Tinubu and Patrice Motsepe.

The NFF said the CAF General Assembly will hold in October 2026, bringing together football administrators from across Africa, while the CAF Awards will celebrate the continent’s top football stars.

Nigeria last hosted the CAF Awards in Lagos in 2015, where Yaya Touré won his fourth straight African Player of the Year award, while Asisat Oshoala claimed her first Women’s Player of the Year title.
