Seyi Makinde directs his political loyalists aspiring for offices to a new party
The governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has reportedly directed his supporters and loyalists aspiring for political offices not to purchase the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nomination and expression of interest forms.
According to report, Seyi Makinde has directed his supporters to register with the Allied People’s Movements (APM). A source who is privy to the development claims that Seyi Makinde in his last meeting with Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed concluded that it will amount to effort in futility remaining in the PDP as well as joining the litigation plagued African Democratic Congress (ADC). Hence, the duo resolved to pitch their tent with Allied People’s Movement (APM)–a party currently without any legal drawbacks.
I can confirm that his excellency has given the directive to his political supporters and his loyalists. The goal is to ensure that we are not trapped in the PDP or get caught up in the ADC. So, to be safe, the governor has privately told us to identify with APM. Barring any last minute changes, the decision will be made public soon”.
The source who spoke to us on condition of anonymity, also claimed that Seyi Makinde is not interested in contesting for president or becoming a running mate to Atiku Abubakar. According to him, the governor is focused on the state and does not feel that he needs to be on ballot in 2027.
