A video showing expansive solar carports at Nigeria’s Presidential Villa has gone viral on X after it was first posted by NEFERTITI, @firstkadyship.

The clip highlights the project’s alleged ₦17 billion cost, budgeted across 2025 and 2026, aimed at making Aso Villa energy-independent and cutting its ₦47 billion annual grid bill.

Reacting to the footage, former lawmaker Senator Dino Melaye blasted the move, writing: “Aso Villa with Solar Panel while Nigerians live in darkness. OTP. (One time President)”.
