Popular Radio and sport broadcaster dies

A prominent Nigerian sports broadcaster with Classic FM 97.3, Temisan Okomi, has died.

As reported by Daily Post, the news of his death was confirmed on Friday by a journalist with News Central, Olawale Adigun, in a post shared on X.

Expressing shock over the development, Adigun described the late broadcaster as a significant figure in his life.

“Hearing about his passing is devastating. He meant so much to me,” he wrote.

The announcement has since triggered an outpouring of grief on social media, with colleagues, fans and media practitioners mourning the loss of the respected journalist.

Okomi was known for his contributions to sports broadcasting, having worked with notable media platforms including Lagos Television and HiTV.

Checks showed that his last post on X was made on April 14, 2026, when he commented on the competitiveness of the UEFA Champions League.

As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the cause of his death had yet to be made public.
