Interior Minister, Tunji Ojo Brings Relief to Elderly with Massive Free Healthcare Outreach in Ondo

Thousands of elderly residents in Ondo State have once again benefitted from the PBAT Medicare programme, a comprehensive healthcare outreach funded by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The medical initiative, held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, offered a wide range of health services tailored to senior citizens within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Services provided during the outreach included general medical consultations, routine health checks, laboratory investigations, and screenings for blood pressure and diabetes.

Beneficiaries also received eye and dental examinations, essential medications, dietary supplements, health education, and professional counselling to support their overall wellbeing.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the PBAT Mandate Elders Forum, Chief Erastus Akeju, expressed confidence that the programme would significantly improve the health, dignity, and longevity of party elders.

He described the initiative as a demonstration of Dr. Tunji-Ojo’s humanitarian disposition and commitment to grassroots support.

Also addressing journalists, the Facilitator of the forum, Hon. Ademola Ijabiyi, urged beneficiaries not to take the gesture for granted, noting that the initiative reflects sustained efforts to support elderly members of the party.

He highlighted other interventions by the minister, including regular elders’ meetings, employment opportunities, and development projects across Ondo State, as evidence of his dedication to public service.

Ijabiyi further noted that the elders’ forum remains actively engaged in mobilising support for the APC, particularly towards the 2027 general elections.

Some beneficiaries commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.

Princess Bukky Abike-Oluderu praised Dr. Tunji-Ojo for prioritising the welfare of the elderly and encouraged women to play a more active role in political mobilisation.

The event also featured health talks delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) Joy Eloho-Orji of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, who emphasised the importance of regular medical check-ups, healthy living, and physical exercise among senior citizens.

The outreach recorded high participation, with many beneficiaries expressing satisfaction with the quality of services provided.
