Crisis Deepens In ADC As Chairmen Suspend Caretaker Boss

The internal crisis rocking the Ondo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) took a dramatic turn on Tuesday as the committee of local government chairmen announced the immediate suspension of the State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr. Wole Ademoyegun.
In a letter addressed to the ADC National Chairman, David Mark, and obtained by SaharaReporters, the aggrieved officials said the decision to suspend Ademoyegun was taken unanimously by chairmen across the 18 local government areas in the state.
The letter, titled “Notification of Suspension of Mr. Wole Ademoyegun as Chairman of African Democratic Congress in Ondo State,” accused the embattled chairman of engaging in actions capable of destabilising the party.
According to the signatories, Ademoyegun’s suspension became “necessary and indeed unavoidable in the wake of undemocratic actions which he has implemented over time.”
They alleged that despite a directive from the party’s national leadership to maintain existing state structures following a coalition arrangement, Ademoyegun failed to comply.
“After the formal handing over of the national structure of the ADC to coalition leaders, the National Headquarters directed that all existing leadership structures at the state level should be left intact,” the letter stated.
The local government chairmen, however, accused Ademoyegun of undermining that directive by dissolving duly elected executives at the grassroots level.

“Despite being a beneficiary of this directive, he has failed to effect the same in the local government areas, as he has been unilaterally removing the party’s local government chairmen and replacing them with strangers and impostors,” the statement read.
They further alleged that the replacements were influenced by individuals who are not even members of the party.
The chairmen claimed that more than 14 local government leadership structures had already been affected by the alleged actions.

“Mr. Ademoyegun has effectively, by his undemocratic conduct, illegally displaced the leadership of the party in more than 14 local governments in Ondo State,” they stated.
The group warned that the situation, if unchecked, could plunge the party into deeper crisis ahead of future political activities in the state.
“As a result, and in a bid to save the ADC from being further plundered into the abyss of undemocratic tendencies, the committee of chairmen… has taken the decision to suspend Mr. Wole Ademoyegun forthwith,” the letter added.
They called on the national leadership of the party to immediately stop recognising Ademoyegun as the state chairman.
“The National Leadership is hereby notified to cease further recognition or dealings with Mr. Wole Ademoyegun in any manner whatsoever as chairman,” they said.
The document was endorsed by multiple local government chairmen across the state, with attached signatures and contact details as proof of consensus.
Copies of the letter were also sent to other party stakeholders, including the Deputy National Chairman.
The development is the latest in a series of internal disputes rocking the ADC, as factions within the party continue to battle for control of structures at both state and national levels.
