What Bala Mohammed told me about his rumoured defection–PDP chair, Turaki
The factional chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has disclosed that Bauchi state governor and chairman of the PDP governors’ forum, Bala Mohammed assured him that he will not leave the PDP to join the ruling party, APC.
Reports suggest that governor Bala Mohammed has concluded plans to defect to the APC on Tuesday after finalizing the terms of his joining the ruling party.
According to the national secretary of the Turaki led PDP faction, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the reports of governor Bala Mohammed defection should be dismissed.
He disclosed that governor Bala Mohammed in his recent conversation with Turaki, assured him of his commitment to the party and that he will not leave PDP to join APC as being speculated.
He described the report of the governor defecting to the APC as fabricated.
Comrade Ini Ememobong added that the governor was at a recent stakeholders meeting of the PDP where agreement was reached for the leadership of the party to keep the internal affairs of the party in view of the modality to reconciling with the Wike’s faction of the PDP.
He argued that the governor who is committed to actualizing peace in the PDP through reconciliation will not abandon the party at this critical time.
