APC Leadership Responds to Islamic Cleric’s Claim of N500 Billion Bribe for Arewa Clerics
The national leadership of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC) has reacted to viral video of a prominent northern Nigerian Islamic cleric, sheikh Sunusi Khali in which he alleged that N500 billion has been earnmarked by the Tinubu’s government to bribe traditional rulers and prominent Muslim clerics into supporting Tinubu’s reelection.
Sheikh Sunusi Khali in the viral video, alleged that he was approached by those he said were delegated by the ruling party. According to him, he was persuaded by the delegates to join the initiative and be handsomely rewarded. He would speak kind of the president and his administration, urging his congregants to support and vote for Tinubu in 2027. He declared that he rejected the mouthwatering offer.
He stated that the presidency is determined to buying popular clerics and traditional rulers who they believe are capable of influencing public opinion in their favour ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to the claims by sheikh Sunusi Khali, the national secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, gave a sarcastic response to rebuff the claims by sheikh Sunusi Khali. He mockingly described it as “laughable”.
