Dear Makinde, if You Call Bala on His MTN and the Line is Not Going Through, Call His Airtel- senator Shehu Sani
Former Nigerian lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has advised Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to be wary of his political isolation as the ranks of the main opposition continue to thin out.
In a satirical message posted on his X handle on Sunday, March 15, 2026, Sani used a telecom-themed metaphor to highlight the precarious position of the Oyo Governor.
He remarked that if Makinde attempts to reach his colleague, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, on his MTN, Airtel, or Glo lines without success, he should realize he is effectively on his own.
The comment suggests that the long-standing alliance between the two governors is fracturing as the political map of the country undergoes a massive shift toward the ruling party.
Sani wrote, “Dear Makinde, if you call Bala on his Mtn and the line is not going through, call his Airtel and if not going through try his glo. If all lines not going through, you are OYO; On your own.”
The warning comes amid reports that Governor Bala Mohammed, who currently serves as the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, is finalized his plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) this week.
Sources indicate that Mohammed has already held high-level meetings with President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership to negotiate the terms of his move.
It is reported that the Bauchi Governor has been offered an APC senatorial ticket for the 2027 elections, though he has reportedly faced tough conditions regarding his ability to name a successor in Bauchi.
