“I Didn’t Just Make a First Class In My Class, I Scored the Highest in the University” —W. F. Kumuyi

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry has attributed his academic excellence at university to unwavering spiritual conviction and personal discipline.

In a sermon via YouTube, Kumuyi shared that his steadfastness in faith did not hinder his academic pursuits but instead propelled him to outstanding achievement.

“I didn’t just have a certificate coming out of that institution, and I didn’t just make a first class in my class in the whole university. All the departments I scored the highest in the university,” he declared.

Kumuyi explained that his refusal to compromise his beliefs, even under pressure from lecturers and peers, strengthened his resolve both spiritually and academically. He said his commitment to God fostered discipline, focus and consistency in his studies.

Referencing the account of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, he said their deliverance from the fiery furnace illustrates how divine presence accompanies those who remain faithful. He added that just as the three Hebrew men emerged unscathed, believers who uphold their convictions will ultimately triumph.

The cleric encouraged students to understand that spiritual devotion and academic excellence are not mutually exclusive. Instead, he argued that strong moral and spiritual foundations can enhance intellectual performance.

Kumuyi concluded by assuring worshippers that God’s presence remains constant in times of examination, whether spiritual or academic, urging them to stand firm and trust in divine guidance
