State Government Budgets N50million For Governor’s Laundry Facility, N800million For Presidential Wing Of Govt House

A SaharaReporters review of the Jigawa State budget document has shown that a sum of N800 million is planned for the construction and furnishing of the Presidential Wing of the Government House.
According to the details, a sum of N500 million is budgeted for the construction of the Presidential Wing, while N300 million is planned for its furnishing, totalling N800 million.
Further review shows that another N50million is planned for the construction of the governor’s laundry facility in the Government House.
A SaharaReporters’ earlier review of the Jigawa State budget performance document for January to September 2025 showed that the Government House, which typically serves as the governor’s office, spent N437 million on “Utility vehicles” within just three months.
This is even as a total of N672 million was spent between January and September on vehicles for the Government House under Governor Umar Namadi.
The budget performance document, which breaks down government expenditures, lists spending across various offices. The Government House allocation is separate from that of the deputy governor and other offices, which are also itemized.
The revelation that N437 million was spent on vehicles between July and September comes after SaharaReporters earlier reported that the government had purchased new vehicles for the governor’s convoy.
The government, however, denied this, saying the governor uses “old vehicles left by his predecessor.”
According to sources, the newly acquired fleet includes two 2025-model luxury Toyota Hiace buses, one 2025 Land Cruiser, and an armored 2025 Lexus.
“The vehicles are parked close to the clinic in the government house,” a source told SaharaReporters.
Another insider alleged that, “The amounts spent on them are heavily inflated and then the contract process is filled with illegality.”
However, in a statement, Bashir Kundu, the APC Publicity Secretary, Jigawa State, dismissed the report as “false claims and outright ignorance on the part of the informants, with a sinister motive”.
“The report deliberately misinformed its readers by reporting in the assumption that visitors’ vehicles parked in the premises of the Government House are newly acquired convoy vehicles for the governor. While it is legal for the governor to acquire convoy vehicles, Governor Namadi is still using old vehicles used by his predecessor,” the statement read in part.
It remains unclear why the government denied purchasing vehicles even though the budget performance document shows that N437 million was spent within three months on the same category—covering July to September 2025, the same period SaharaReporters reported the convoy vehicle purchases.
It is also unclear how much the Namadi-led government plans to spend on utility vehicles for the Government House by the time the fiscal year ends in December.
