MTN Schedules Network Maintenance, Warns of Temporary Disruption in Three States
Telecom giant MTN Nigeria has announced plans to carry out a scheduled network maintenance exercise on October 25, which will cause a temporary disruption in service across Adamawa, Borno, and Kano states.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the company said the maintenance window, which will last from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., will affect 101 network sites spread across 15 local government areas within the three states.
MTN explained that the exercise is part of its ongoing efforts to boost network reliability and reinforce fibre infrastructure in Northern Nigeria.
“This planned maintenance is a continuation of the restoration work we started in August 2025 along the same route,” the statement read. “It will ensure stronger and more stable connections for customers in the affected regions.”
According to the company, the maintenance involves a fibre cutover on a newly relocated cable segment between AFCOT and Bawo village, replacing previously damaged fibre spans and reducing the number of joints that have impacted signal strength and overall network performance.
MTN assured users that connectivity will be restored immediately after the scheduled maintenance window and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
