His appointment marks a significant step forward for regional development, as he vows to pursue a bold agenda built on integration, economic growth, environmental sustainability, and inclusive governance.

 

Surrounded by fellow commissioners and national dignitaries, Dr. Adewinle reaffirmed his commitment to delivering transformative impact for the people of Ondo State and the entire South West region.

Jide Martins Adewinle, Ph.D, Sworn in as Federal Commissioner — Vows to Champion Development, Unity, and Prosperity for Ondo State and the South West

Today, I stand humbled and honoured as I officially assume office as the Federal Commissioner representing Ondo State at the South West Development Commission (SWDC). This historic swearing-in ceremony is not only a defining moment in my personal journey, but a collective victory for the resilient and hardworking people of Ondo State and the South West at large. It symbolizes our shared vision for equity, inclusive progress, and a future built on sustainable growth.

I am deeply grateful to God Almighty, whose grace has made this day possible. With profound appreciation, I acknowledge the confidence reposed in me by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the leadership that found me worthy of this noble assignment. I extend my sincere thanks to my Governor, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, as well as our political leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and indeed every son and daughter of Ondo State — at home and in the diaspora — who continue to serve as pillars of encouragement and strength.

Today’s inauguration, held at the historic Rotunda Hall of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, also brought together my esteemed colleagues from across the South West, along with counterparts from the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) and the South South Development Commission (SSDC). This collective swearing-in is a testament to Nigeria’s renewed commitment to regional development as a pathway to national growth.

This appointment is more than a position of honour; it is a call to action. The South West stands as a region blessed with human capital, rich culture, natural resources, and an enduring legacy of innovation and enterprise. Yet, we must confront the pressing challenges of underdevelopment, unemployment, infrastructural gaps, and environmental threats. As Federal Commissioner, I pledge to work tirelessly with all stakeholders to transform these challenges into opportunities for advancement.

My priorities at the SWDC will be guided by four pillars:

1. Regional Integration — fostering unity, synergy, and stronger collaboration among South West states.

2. Economic Growth and Prosperity — driving initiatives that support entrepreneurship, attract investment, and create jobs for our youth.

3. Environmental Sustainability — ensuring the responsible use of natural resources while addressing climate and ecological concerns.

4. Social Harmony and Inclusiveness — promoting peace, equity, and empowerment across all communities, ensuring that no group or individual is left behind.

 

This is not a responsibility I take lightly. I am committed to transparency, accountability, and results-driven leadership. With the support of my colleagues at the SWDC, the Federal Government, and the people we represent, I believe we can unlock a new chapter of transformation in the South West.

To my family, whose sacrifices and steadfast love remain my anchor, I dedicate this achievement. To the people of Ondo State, I assure you that your voices, aspirations, and dreams will guide my every decision in this office.
