The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Benin Sub-Region, has apprehended a 24-year-old man, identified as Wisdom Amaunam, over the alleged theft of electricity cables and wires from a marshalling kiosk at its 330kV switchyard.

According to TCN, a security officer on patrol caught the suspect removing cables and wires from the facility. He was subsequently handed over to the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for investigation.
The suspect remains in custody pending the conclusion of investigations and possible arraignment. TCN commended its security personnel and the NSCDC for their vigilance, while warning against vandalism and trespassing at critical power installations.
The company also urged host communities and members of the public to report suspicious activities around transmission facilities to security agencies or the nearest TCN office.
