JUST IN : Burial arrangement for Ex-goalkeeper, peter Rufai released 

The late Nigerian🇳🇬 football icon Peter Rufai will be laid to rest on Friday, 22 August, as his family finalises burial plans for the former Super Eagles goalkeeper, widely admired for his service to Nigerian football.

Between that Côte d’Ivoire ’84 to Tunisia ’94, Peter Rufai, with the nickname Dodo Mayana, was clearly Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper. It was ten years of his dominance out of the seventeen he spent with the national team

☑️He won the 1994 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia
☑️Silver medalist at the Africa Cup of Nations in 1984 and 1988
☑️Participated in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups

He earned 65 caps for the Super Eagles throughout his 17 years with the team.

Rufai died after a long illness on 3 July 2025, at the age of 61.
