48 Hours After Safety Assurances, Six Christians Targeted and K!lled in Fresh Taraba Farm ∆mbushes

At least six Christians have been k!lled in a fresh wave of attacks in Takum area of Taraba State between April 20 and 21, in what residents describe as coordinated and targeted ambushes on farmers.

The violence began on Monday morning in Amadu Chanchanji community, where Aondoungwa Kpeibee and his wife were attacked while heading to their farm. Both victims were k!lled in the assault.

Hours later, separate attacks followed in nearby locations. Terver Shaapera was killed on his way to the farm, while Martina Ityav was also attacked and killed under similar circumstances.

In another incident at Tyo-Jande village, three Christian women were reportedly att@cked while working on their farm. One of them d!ed at the scene, while the other two escaped.

Local sources say the pattern of the attacks suggests deliberate targeting of vulnerable farmers, many of them from Christian communities. Community leader Hon. Jolly Butu said the attackers often operate in small coordinated groups, positioning themselves along farming routes.

“They divide into groups and lay ambush for people going to farms,” he said.

Residents say fear has intensified across affected communities, with many now avoiding their farms due to repeated attacks. The latest incidents have further disrupted livelihoods and deepened insecurity across Southern Taraba.

The attacks occurred shortly after Governor Agbu Kefas stated that the state is safe and open to investors during a public event.
