2027: Why Uju Kingsley Chima Deserves a Return to House of Representatives –  Adielea

The erstwhile member representing the good people of Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima (2019–2023), does not need an introduction in the Imo political arena. This is because he has carved a niche for himself through his numerous people oriented programmes since his entry into Imo politics.

Omeudo Uju Kingsley Chima has brought government presence to the oil producing region, both in infrastructure and human capital development.

He was Coordinating Commissioner for Lands, Interim Head of ISOPADEC and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor (Operations). Hon. Uju Kingsley distinguished himself in every position and responsibility he was assigned.

As a man from a humble background, the virtues inculcated in him as a child manifested immediately he was appointed into public office. Pained by the backwardness of the people of the oil rich region of Imo State, Hon. Uju, through top notch and unassailable board manoeuvrings, ensured that life transforming projects were cited in different parts of the region. The pace at which Hon. Uju attracted developmental projects to his people was unprecedented.

In addition to infrastructural development, Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima MFR, through his influence, recommended many young men and women from his zone into strategic government positions. Till date, this stands tall as one of the highest government influenced human capital development efforts in the oil rich region since the creation of Imo State.

In a bid to get the best out of Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima, the people of the oil rich region of Imo State, both young and old, beckoned on him to venture into elective office. After due consultations, Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima offered himself to serve as a member of the House of Representatives for Oru West, Oguta and Ohaji/Egbema Federal Constituency on the platform of the Action Alliance (AA), and emerged victorious in the 2019 general election before his now recent entry into the Action People’s Party (APP), where he picked the party’s candidacy under party candidate substitution with ease.

Hon. Uju Kingsley represented his people effectively. As a legislator, Hon. Uju has facilitated the gainful employment of young men and women from his constituency into federal government establishments.

Hon. Uju Kingsley has sponsored many Bills and Motions for the good governance of Nigeria and the development of his constituency. The Bills include:

1. A Bill for an Act to Establish the National Institute of Oil & Gas Technology & Entrepreneurial Studies, Egbema, Imo State.

2. A Bill to Alter Section 162(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.

3. A Bill for an Act to Provide a Legal Framework for the Establishment of Project Implementation & Management Committee, to Criminalise Abandonment of Contracts & for Related Matters.

4. A Bill for an Act to Establish the National Estate Regulatory Commission & for Related Matters.

5. A Bill for an Act to Establish the National Gas Management Commission & for Related Matters.

6. A Bill for an Act to Establish the National Oil Spill Detection & Response Agency.

7. A Bill for an Act to Establish the Federal Security Regulatory Agency.

8. A Bill to Alter the Provisions of the Animal Disease (Control) Act, 1988 & for Related Matters.

9. A Bill to Amend the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (Establishment, etc.) Act, 2011, to Bring It in Conformity with the Provisions of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

2. Need for Urgent Investigation into the Allegations of Indiscriminate Issuance of ‘Certificates of No Objection’ by the Bureau of Public Procurement & Non-Compliance with the Mandatory Post-Procurement Audits from 2014 till 2021.

3. Need to Establish a Direct Debit System for the Payment of Utility Bills by Federal Ministries, Departments & Agencies.

4. Urgent Need to Design and Develop a Data Bank for Unemployed Youths & Young Persons in Nigeria for Effective Policy Delivery & Engagement.

5. Urgent Need to Stop the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) from Adjusting Pump Prices of Petroleum Products Pending the Passing of the Petroleum Industry Bill into Law.

6. Urgent Need to Save Souls in Etekwuru Community, in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State, from the Huge Damage Caused by the Fire Outbreak of 4th February 2020 & to Investigate the Immediate Causes of the Inferno that was Linked to an Oil Pipeline Explosion.

7. Need to Enforce Compulsory Teaching of Moral Lessons & Orientation Subjects/Courses in the Nigerian Educational Curricula.

8. Urgent Need to Rehabilitate the Avu–Etekwuru Road & to Complete the Oguta/Nnebukwu Bridge.

9. Urgent Need to Replace Health & Medical Officers Who Abandoned Their Employment in the Wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

10. Call to Assess the Economic Impacts, Compensation & Financial Remediation Programmes for Oil-Spill-Ravaged Communities of Ohaji, Egbema and Oguta in Imo State & Other Niger Delta Areas of Nigeria.

11. Need to Establish the Nigeria Education Bank in Line with the Nigeria Education Bank Act.

12. Urgent Need to Monitor & Evaluate the Implementation of the Integrated Payroll & Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

13. Call to Request the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to Urgently Re-conduct WAEC Examinations Disrupted by the Unlawful Sit-at-Home Order at Some Centres in South-East Nigeria.

14. Urgent Need to Investigate the Loss of Over 200 Million Dollars in Revenue by the Federal Government to the International Oil Companies on Account of Non-Metering of Oil Well Heads, Flow Stations & Export Terminals.

15. Need to Investigate All Cash Calls and Joint Venture Agreements Between NNPC and Various Oil Companies Operating in Nigeria from 2015 till Date and Their Compliance with the Public Procurement Act 2007, Which Results in the Loss of About 30 Million Naira by the Federal Government.

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, opposition camps have been struggling to undermine the achievements of Hon. Uju Kingsley. But his record of service speaks for itself through the projects, interventions and legislative activities associated with his time in public service.

The achievements of Hon. Uju Kingsley will speak for him during the 2027 election. He will remain focused and will never blackmail other candidates of the opposition. His team will be civil with its campaign. Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima will only be committed to reeling out his achievements so far and what he intends to achieve when given the mandate again.

As it is, Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima (Omeudo)is the candidate of the Action People’s Party (APP) for the 2027 general election. He is seeking to be elected back to the House of Representatives to represent Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency and continue pressing for the materialisation of the Bills and Motions he initiated.

The achievements of Hon. Uju Kingsley, in my view, place a substantial record before the electorate, while his supporters are poised to reward what they consider his hard work by sending him back to the National Assembly for effective representation.

Remarkably, Hon.Uju Kingsley has a title: OMEUDO. Many have forgotten that he was responsible for the peace of the oil producing areas of Imo State under Okorocha, where he spearheaded the amnesty programme of that administration. His constituents have not forgotten.

Based on what I consider the outstanding performance of Hon. Uju Kingsley, his return to the National Assembly would enable him to effectively represent the good people of Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West. His supporters see him as a strong option for more road projects, infrastructural development, youth and women empowerment programmes, and job opportunities.

It is obvious that Hon.Uju Kingsley Chima is a man of the people, having touched many lives positively. His supporters believe that Hon. Uju’s return will unlock the doors to greater development because he will use his ranking position to attract greater development to his people.

So, the people of Oru West, Oguta and Ohaji/Egbema cannot allow what they regard as the lofty developmental plans of Hon.Uju Kingsley Chima MFR (Omeudo)to be cut short under any guise. They will not sacrifice competence on the altar of primordial sentiments.

Hon.Uju Kingsley Chima has built trust with his quality representation and, in my view, deserves to be considered for a return in order to consolidate on his achievements.

So, as the good people of Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West warm up for the 2027 general election, we can only thank God for His tender mercies and say,“Lord, to Your name be all the glory.”

I am only calling on our people to consider sending back Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima MFR (Omeudo) for effective and active representation.
