2027 Elections: Sowore Leads AAC One-Million-Man March In Lagos Amid Massive Turnout Of Supporters

2027 Elections: Sowore Leads AAC One-Million-Man March In Lagos Amid Massive Turnout Of Supporters

The march, organised as part of the party’s campaign activities in Lagos, was aimed at mobilising supporters and expanding the party’s presence ahead of the forthcoming presidential election.

Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, on Saturday led a campaign rally tagged the “One-Million-Man March” in Lagos State as part of his political mobilisation ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

Sowore described the march as “absolutely ecstatic” in a post on his X account, accompanied by footage showing his supporters dancing, singing and chanting in support of his presidential ambition.

In the video seen by SaharaReporters, Sowore’s loyalists were seen enthusiastically dancing and singing, repeatedly chanting, “You are a leader, vote for Sowore, vote for Sowore,” as they rallied behind the AAC candidate.

The march, organised as part of the party’s campaign activities in Lagos, was aimed at mobilising supporters and expanding the party’s presence ahead of the forthcoming presidential election.

Sowore, who is seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the AAC, has been intensifying his political activities across the country, urging Nigerians to support his revolutionary movement and participate in efforts to bring about political change.

The Lagos rally came a day after Sowore addressed journalists in Abuja following proceedings in his ongoing cyberbullying case at the Federal High Court, where he accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of using the case to frustrate his political activities and restrict his ability to campaign across the country.

He had announced plans to hold the march in Lagos, urging his supporters to converge at Yaba for the demonstration.

Sowore has maintained that the ongoing court case would not prevent him from pursuing his political ambitions, insisting that he would continue to mobilise Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.

The AAC presidential candidate contested the 2023 general election and is again seeking the country’s highest political office in 2027.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of presidential candidates for the forthcoming election, with Sowore listed as the AAC candidate and Haruna Garba Magashi as his running mate.

The 2027 elections are expected to feature candidates from several political parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition parties seeking to challenge President Tinubu’s administration. The election is scheduled for January 2027, according to published election information.

Sowore has continued to criticise the Tinubu administration over economic hardship, insecurity, governance and other challenges facing Nigerians, while calling for what he describes as a revolutionary transformation of the country’s political and economic system.

The Lagos march forms part of the AAC’s efforts to build grassroots support and increase its visibility ahead of the election, as political parties and candidates step up their engagement with voters.
