12 Brigade Troops Rescue Five Victims Following Coordinated Air and Ground Strikes on Terrorist Hideouts

Five kidnapped victims have been rescued in Kogi State after terror!sts abandoned them while fleeing sustained military operations targeting criminal hideouts in the state.

According to security sources, troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army Lokoja, under the 2 Division, rescued the victims on June 17, 2026, during a blocking operation conducted by personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Oshokoshoko along the Oshokoshoko–Adankolo route in Adankolo Forest.

The rescue followed recent coordinated ground and air offensives against terrorist camps in the area, which forced the criminals to retreat and abandon their captives.

The victims were immediately evacuated from the forest, given medical attention at a military facility, and subsequently debriefed by security personnel.

Military authorities have stated that operations are ongoing to track down and neutralise the remaining terror!sts believed to be operating within the forest and surrounding communities.

The development is being seen as another significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to combat insecurity and kidnapping activities in Kogi State.
