12 Brigade Nigerian Army Rescue 11 Kidnap Victims Along Kabba-Ayere Road in Kogi State

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Composite Brigade have rescued 11 passengers following a foiled kidnapping attempt along the Kabba-Ayere Road in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to a statement issued on Monday, October 19, 2026, by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 18, when troops on routine patrol responded to credible intelligence about terrorists attempting to abduct passengers travelling in a commercial vehicle.

The troops, deployed at the patrol base in Kabba, reportedly engaged the suspected terrorists upon arriving at the scene, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee into the surrounding bush.

Nine passengers, including the driver, were rescued during the initial operation. The driver and two other passengers who sustained injuries were evacuated for medical attention, while the commercial vehicle was handed over to the appropriate authorities.

In a follow-up operation on Monday, October 19, troops searched the surrounding area and rescued two additional passengers who had fled into the bush during the encounter, bringing the total number of rescued victims to 11.

The Brigade reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, disrupting terrorist activities, and ensuring the safety of commuters across Kogi State.

It also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations and efforts to combat insecurity.
