You Cannot Be Both a Police Officer and a Thief — FCT Police Commissioner Warns officers Against Extortion

The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ahmed Sanusi, has warned officers against extorting commercial tricycle (Keke) riders, motorists, and other residents while carrying out their duties.

Speaking during a strategic briefing on ongoing security and traffic enforcement operations in Abuja on Saturday, the newly appointed FCT police boss said the command would no longer tolerate officers involved in extortion.

Sanusi noted that complaints from the public about police extortion had reached an alarming level and vowed to identify and remove officers engaging in such misconduct.

“You cannot be both a police officer and a thief. We don’t want to hear any reports of extorting Keke riders or motorists in Abuja. If we hear it, you are a thief and you will be removed,” he warned.
