“We Hear You — No More Excuses, Only Results” – Senate President Akpabio Vows Accountability

After a 10-week recess, the Nigerian Senate is back — and Senate President Godswill Akpabio says this new session will focus on results, not rhetoric.

Speaking at the Senate’s first plenary, Akpabio assured Nigerians that the Red Chamber will remain accountable, responsive, and focused on real governance.

“To the citizens of Nigeria, we hear you. You asked us not for excuses, but for results,” he said, urging lawmakers to uphold discipline, integrity, and purpose.

He also cautioned against any attempt to weaken the legislature, warning that such actions could threaten the foundation of Nigeria’s democracy.

On national issues, Akpabio called for immediate action on flood disasters affecting communities across the country and promised that the Senate would not ignore victims in need.

The Senate President also highlighted improvements in oil production and credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration with steps toward stabilizing state finances.

Akpabio concluded by urging leaders to prioritize competence over popularity, reminding colleagues that governance is a sacred duty of trust — not theatrics.
