Viral Video Scandal: Enugu Cleric Apologises, Says Childless Women Pressured Him

A cleric identified as Bishop James Ogwo has reportedly accepted responsibility following the circulation of controversial videos that have sparked widespread reactions on social media.

In a statement attributed to him, the cleric expressed regret over the incident, saying he was not proud of the videos and never intended for members of his family or congregation to see them.

According to the statement, many of the women involved had approached him seeking prayers and spiritual intervention for childlessness. He claimed that he initially advised them to remain patient and wait for God’s timing.

“I am not proud of the videos circulating online because I never wanted my children or family to see them. Most of the women who came to me sought prayers for the fruit of the womb. I urged them to wait on God’s perfect timing, but many said they were under unbearable pressure from their husbands and in-laws over childlessness,” the statement read.

The cleric further claimed that some of the women allegedly insisted that he personally help them conceive because they believed he represented God.

He concluded the statement by accepting responsibility for his actions and appealing for forgiveness from members of the public.
“I accept responsibility and I beg for your forgiveness,” he said.
