Tragedy for Mount Zion as Top Another Actor Passes Away
The Christian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of gospel actor Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, widely known for his role as Flora’s husband in the acclaimed Mount Zion movie Abattoir.
Oyeyemi was also featured in several other gospel films, including Seyifunmi, Olukoya, and Finding Grace, earning recognition for his contributions to Christian filmmaking and faith-based storytelling.
His death comes barely a year after the passing of Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who played Flora in Abattoir. The actress died on February 4, 2025, from complications arising from a road accident that occurred on December 26, 2024, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The crash also claimed the life of one of her two-year-old twin daughters.
Her death drew tributes from leading figures in the gospel film industry, including Evangelist Mike Bamiloye and Joshua Mike-Bamiloye. It also followed the earlier loss of another Abattoir actor, Moses Korede Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro.
According to a funeral announcement released by the family, a Service of Songs will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, while his burial is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, friends and admirers, who described Oyeyemi as a dedicated minister of the gospel through drama and prayed for God to comfort his family and the Christian film community.
