South West Leads as APC Considers Return Tickets for 188 National Assembly Members

Reports by Leadership Newspaper indicate that no fewer than 188 federal lawmakers on the platform of the All Progressives Congress may secure automatic return tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the ruling party reportedly moves to retain experienced legislators in the National Assembly. The proposed arrangement is said to favour 140 members of the House of Representatives and 48 Senators, with the South West emerging as the region with the highest number of expected returnees.

 

In Ondo State, seven out of the nine serving APC House of Representatives members are reportedly pencilled down for return tickets, alongside Senators Jide Ipinsagba and Adeniyi Adegbonmire, who were also listed among the party’s favoured returnees.

According to The Leadership Newspaper:

1. 140 Representatives and 48 Senators are expected to be given automatic return tickets.

2. The South West has the highest number of potential returnees, followed by the South South.

3. The reason for the return tickets is that the legislature needs experienced hands.

4. In Lagos State, 15 of the 20 APC members of the House of Representatives are expected to retain their seats.

5. In Oyo State, all eight APC lawmakers are also expected to get return tickets.

6. In Ogun State, seven APC lawmakers are expected to secure return tickets.

7. Osun State is also expected to have seven returning lawmakers.

8. In Ondo State, seven out of nine serving House of Representatives members are expected to get return tickets, alongside Senators Jide Ipinsagba (Ondo North) and Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire SAN (Ondo Central), who also made the list of favoured returnees.
