Gunmen have kidnapped the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Information, Tourism and Culture in Nasarawa State, Barrister Yusuf Musa.

The incident happened late at night on Monday, July 14, 2025, at his residence in the Shinge area of Lafia, the state capital.

It was gathered that the attackers followed the official to his home and took him just as he was about to enter his compound.

A neighbour who noticed his car parked outside with the gate left open raised an alarm.

When people arrived, they searched for him but could not find him.

His phone was unreachable, and no one could account for his whereabouts.

The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the incident.

According to the police, a patrol team from B Division in Lafia found a Peugeot pick-up van with all its doors wide open around 3:00 a.m.

The gate to the house was also open, raising concerns.

A search revealed that Barrister Musa was missing, and his GMC vehicle with plate number KUJ 88 PA had also disappeared.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has launched a full-scale operation to find the suspects.

Police divisions across the state, including those in Akwanga, Andaha, Garaku, and Kadarko, have been alerted, while surveillance has been placed along key roads.

The police command is calling on the public to stay calm and assist by reporting any useful information.
