People Have Spoken – Olufunke Aruna Confirmed as APC Candidate for Owo Constituency 2

Respecting process, upholding the People’s Choice.
The APC primary election for Owo Constituency 2 held on 20th May 2026 was conducted peacefully, transparently, and in line with the party democratic principles. It is important to set the record straight following the unnecessary protest initiated by a small group seeking to undermine the outcome.
The party initially worked toward a consensus arrangement for Owo Constituency 2. When two aspirants chose not to accept that arrangement, they obtained nomination forms and opted for an open contest. We commend the Ondo State Government and the party leadership for allowing a free and fair process that gave the people the right to choose.
The People Spoke clearly across the wards in Owo Constituency 2, voters turned out in large numbers, even the Incumbent MHA, Owo Constituency 2 lost her own ward to Hon. Olufunke Aruna. At the close of voting and collation, Hon. Olufunke Aruna emerged as the winner based on the ballots cast. Her victory reflects the confidence constituents have in her capacity, experience, and the charisma she brings to representation.
We need to understand the fact that, Protests Without Electoral Basis Undermine Unity. The recent protest by a minority group has no standing in the electoral process. Protests cannot override votes cast at the polling units. More importantly, such actions distract from the progress of the constituency and appear driven by personal interest rather than the common good.
Moving Forward Together. The majority of party members and the people of Owo Constituency 2 have accepted the outcome and are rallying behind Hon. Olufunke Aruna as the APC flag bearer for the Ondo State House of Assembly election. It is time to move past internal disputes and focus on securing victory for the party in the general election.
We urge all residents of Owo Constituency 2 to disregard any unofficial claims or protests that contradict the results of the 20th May primary. The party official channels remain the only source of authentic information on the process.
Hon. Olufunke Aruna now carries the mandate of the people. The focus should be on unity, issue based campaigning, and delivering the representation Owo Constituency 2 deserves.
