Ondo North Forum Dismisses Purported Rejection of Senator Jide Ipinsagba by “Unknown Group”
The Ondo North Development and Advocacy Forum has described as misleading and politically motivated the statement issued by a group identified as “Youths Visionary Hub,” claiming that the youths of Ondo North Senatorial District have rejected the reelection of Senator Jide Ipinsagba.
According to the Forum, the group is largely unknown within the political and social landscape of Ondo North and lacks the credibility or structure to speak on behalf of the entire youths and people of the district. The Forum stated that what the public is witnessing is simply another political gathering put together to advance the already failed ambition of Mr. Alex Ajipe.
The Forum noted that while every Nigerian has the constitutional right to political ambition and association, it is wrong for any small group to create the false impression that it represents the collective position of Ondo North people.
“It is unfortunate that a group claiming to speak for youths could display such poor understanding of the constitutional responsibilities of a Senator. There is a clear difference between the duties of the Executive arm of government and those of the Legislature. The responsibility of a legislator is primarily lawmaking, representation, and oversight functions, and in all these areas, Senator Jide Ipinsagba has performed creditably well within his two and a half years in office,” the statement read.
The Forum further stated that despite the economic and infrastructural challenges facing many parts of the country, Senator Ipinsagba has continued to complement government efforts through constituency projects and intervention programmes across Ondo North.
It listed some of the Senator’s interventions to include the facilitation of scholarships and bursaries for students, youth empowerment programmes, agricultural support initiatives, solar electrification projects, employment opportunities for constituents, healthcare interventions, and the proposed ICT University in Ikare-Akoko, which has already scaled through the Senate.
According to the Forum, many of the criticisms against the Senator are driven more by political sentiments and misinformation than by a fair and objective assessment of his performance in office. The group noted that several of the claims being circulated against Senator Ipinsagba do not reflect the realities of his legislative efforts, constituency interventions, and commitment to the development of Ondo North Senatorial District.
The Forum maintained that Senator Ipinsagba remains focused on effective representation and grassroots development, adding that he will continue to intervene in critical sectors affecting the people through various constituency projects and empowerment programmes.
While acknowledging the right of individuals to aspire for political office, the Forum advised political actors and their supporters to conduct their campaigns with facts, civility, and issue-based engagement rather than resorting to propaganda and attempts to discredit others.
The group therefore urged the people of Ondo North, especially youths, to remain vigilant and avoid being misled by politically sponsored narratives designed to create unnecessary division within the district.
