In recent months, there has been a deliberate campaign of misinformation on social media regarding the performance and stewardship of Senator Jide Ipinsagba in the National Assembly. Some of these misconceptions are also largely driven by mere perceptions arising from the underreporting of many of his achievements and interventions across Ondo North Senatorial District. As someone who believes that leadership should be measured by visible impact rather than propaganda and empty speeches, the Ondo North Development and Advocacy Forum has decided to begin a series highlighting some of the Senator’s key achievements and interventions over the last two and a half years in office.
At a time when many public office holders are better known for political rhetoric than practical results, Senator Jide Ipinsagba’s representation in Ondo North Senatorial District continues to stand out through projects and programmes that directly touch the lives of the people.
Within two and a half years in office, the Senator has made notable contributions in education, youth empowerment, agriculture, infrastructure, security, and human capital development, demonstrating a genuine commitment to the progress and wellbeing of Ondo North.
One of the landmark achievements of his tenure is the proposed bill for the establishment of an ICT University in Ikare-Akoko, which has already scaled through the Senate. The institution, when fully operational, is expected to position Ondo North as a centre for technology, innovation, research, and digital learning. More importantly, the university is expected to create massive employment opportunities for both young and old people within the district and beyond.
Senator Ipinsagba has also shown strong commitment to agricultural development through the training of farmers on modern and mechanised farming methods. This initiative is aimed at increasing food production, improving farming techniques, and boosting the economic capacity of rural farmers.
To address unemployment and encourage self-reliance among youths and women, the Senator facilitated skill acquisition programmes in soap and toiletries production. Beneficiaries of the programme have acquired practical entrepreneurial skills capable of helping them establish sustainable sources of income.
Security has equally remained an important area of focus. Senator Ipinsagba facilitated a town hall meeting involving major stakeholders across Ondo North, the first initiative of its kind in the district. The gathering created a platform for security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents to discuss practical solutions to security challenges affecting the area.
In addition, the Senator provided financial support for the Owo Security Summit, further demonstrating his commitment to the protection of lives and property across the district.
Another important intervention is the facilitation of employment opportunities for Ondo North indigenes. Through his efforts, several qualified youths have secured placements in different government establishments, thereby improving livelihoods for many families.
In the education sector, scholarships and bursaries were facilitated for over 1,000 tertiary institution students from Ondo North. Although some payments are still undergoing official processing, the initiative itself reflects the Senator’s commitment to supporting education and easing the financial burden on students and parents. We therefore appeal to students to remain patient while the necessary procedures are completed and the funds are released by the appropriate authorities.
The Senator has also contributed significantly to rural electrification through the installation of solar power systems in several communities, including the Senate Building of Adekunle Ajasin University. This intervention has improved electricity access, enhanced security, and supported social and economic activities in affected areas.
Furthermore, the empowerment of tailors through the distribution of sewing machines has created additional opportunities for artisans and small-scale business owners across the district.
Taken together, these interventions show that Senator Jide Ipinsagba’s representation is rooted in practical service, grassroots development, and people-oriented governance. Within just two and a half years, his projects and programmes have continued to make visible impacts across Ondo North Senatorial District.
