Mali Drops French Revolution From School Curriculum

Mali Drops French Revolution From School Curriculum
General Assimi Goïta has declared that Grade 9 students in Mali will no longer study the French Revolution or French history.
According to him, it’s time African children learn about their own heroes, kingdoms, and revolutions — not foreign stories that “distort their minds and weaken their pride.”
This move is part of Mali’s broader push to decolonize education and promote African identity and history in schools.
