Kogi State Photojournalist Aiyepeku Ayo Murdered

Aiyepeku Ayo, a photojournalist in Kogi State, was brutally murdered by his neighbor, Adebayo Pelumi, a Nigerian Correctional Service officer, on July 22, 2025.

The incident occurred in Ayo’s GRA office in Lokoja, where both men resided. Adebayo allegedly lured Ayo outside, claiming he needed help at his poultry farm, and then fatally struck him with an iron rod.

Adebayo dismembered Ayo’s body, storing the remains in a freezer, and attempted to conceal evidence. Motives remain unclear, with speculation about ritualistic practices and possible drug involvement.

Adebayo’s wife had reportedly fled due to domestic abuse. The Kogi State Police Command is searching for Adebayo, who is currently at large. His vehicle has been recovered, but the freezer was found empty.
