This followed the recent demand by the women of the state led by the wife of the Governor of Ondo State, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu Ekeredolu, requesting that that women are given equal opportunity to occupy political offices especially the deputy governorship of state.
Ekomaro hails from Umunnoha community in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo and is a devout Anglican.
Government House sources disclosed that the governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma will officially present the woman in a short while.
A source said the governor had considered the fact that the Ekomarus are very influentially Anglicans after the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu family. This is because region plays a major role in normal elections in the state.
Uzodimma’s deputy, Prof Placid Njoku, is a staunch Catholic as well as Uzodimma himself.
Also, it was learned that another consideration is the voting strength of the LGA and its proximity to Ikeduru where the PDP guber candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, hails from.
Meanwhile, Okigwe zone which earlier contested the deputy governorship slot on the premise that Owerri zone has had been enjoying the position, is said to have received the news with mixed feelings.
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu Samdaddy settled for Job Jones Onyeriri who is from Orlu zone while Chief Athan Achonu is yet to unveil a running mate.
