Just In : Lagos Resumes Demolition Of Buildings On Drainage
Officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources have commenced the demolition of buildings on the drainage setback in the Somide Odujinrin Avenue area of the state.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in videos and a photo shared on his X handle on Wednesday.
Wahab revealed that the Omole Phase II Community Development Association reached out to the Ministry for assistance in removing the illegal shanties that were blocking access to the estate.
Wahab wrote, “Acting on a petition from Omole Phase II Community Development Association, operatives from the Monitoring Enforcement and Compliance Department of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources #LasgMOE, Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial (KAI) & the Environment and Special Offences Taskforce, on Tuesday, removed all illegal structures on the drainage setback of Somide Odujinrin Avenue leading into the Estate.”
Some X users who watched the video of the demolition commended the state government’s efforts.
