ISWAP Commanders Kill each other over Failed Operation

ISWAP commanders and fighters have been turning their weapons on each other in deadly infighting following disputes over failed operations.

Multiple skirmishes have broken out, including an incident in the Timbuktu Triangle in Borno State where a heated dispute between senior field commanders over the execution of a scheduled operation escalated into a gun battle, leaving several fighters dead.

Counter-insurgency experts monitoring the Lake Chad region reported that the continuous pressure from coordinated air and ground strikes by the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Nigerian Air Force has severely degraded ISWAP’s operational capacity.

This heavy military pressure has led to dwindling resources, increasing desperation, and internal confusion among the insurgent ranks.
