Iran Warns France Against Military Presence in Strait of Hormuz

Iran has issued a stern warning to France following French President ‘s announcement that France would deploy minesweepers to the Middle East and assist in securing the .

Reacting to the move, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister stated that the Strait of Hormuz “is not a theater for the military display of extra-regional powers,” stressing that Iran considers itself the responsible power and guarantor of security in the strategic waterway.

The Iranian official warned that Tehran is closely monitoring any military movements in the strait and maintained that its security should remain the responsibility of the coastal states. He further cautioned that any external powers contributing to tensions would be held accountable for the consequences of what he described as “adventurism.”

The statement underscores growing tensions in one of the world’s most critical maritime routes, through which a significant portion of global oil shipments passes.
