How fake Gubernatorial Election Committee announced primaries “result” for Rivers State

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Rivers State has now confirmed that collation for its gubernatorial primaries had yet to be concluded, as was reported last night

State Publicity Secretary of the party, Barr. Chigozi Chizi Enyi, who is also a member of the Committee as was published by the ADC National Secretariat, in a statement, late Friday night, disclosed that collation would continue today, Saturday, by 10.00am.

However, in a strange development, a group that claimed it was the “authentic” Gubernatorial Primary Election Committee, led by one Agu Bryan, had earlier on Friday declared one Dr. Farah Dagogo winner of the primary election. However, this publication can confirm that the group has lots of integrity questions to answer as no such name was listed among the Committee members when the party’s National Secretariat made public the lists for the states, including Rivers. While the said Mr. Bryan claimed he was the Chairman, the list that was officially released by the national ADC for the Gubernatorial Election Committee for Rivers State has Mrs. Obaro Ulohu as Chairman.

It could not be confirmed before press time who actually triggered this development. Aside from the fact that the fake committee pitched its “Collation Centre” at a hotel owned by one of the claimants, the official Committee is operating at the State Secretariat of the party.

But who is this Agu Bryan also referred to as Dr. Agu Bryan or Comrade Agu Diamond Bryan?

Checks done by The Neighbourhood Newspaper show that he appears to be an ADC official linked to the party’s activities in Imo State and the South-East. Reports describe him as a “media expert” and former publicity secretary of the ADC in Imo State.

The Imo ADC chapter recently appointed him Director-General of Support Groups, Diaspora Affairs, CSOs, and NGOs.

He is said to be a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and a fellow of some professional institutes.
