Gov. Uba Sani opens up on PGF crisis, reveals bone of contention in move to remove Uzodinma

The governor of Kaduna State and vice chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Uba Sani has downplayed recent turmoil in the PGF and attempt to oust Hope Uzodinma as the chairman of the forum.

Governor Uba Sani while speaking on Channels Tv program:politics today, admitted that there was misunderstanding among the members of the forum.

According to him, the misunderstanding stemmed from disagreement between a few members and the forum’s leadership. He stated that the issue has been resolved and not as serious as people appear to take it.

Governor Uba Sani argued that disagreement among the members of a group such as the PGF is unavoidable and part of democracy.

But in my own opinion, I don’t think it’s a serious issue like many people try to make it look like it’s a very serious issue. Because, you know, in everything we are talking about democracy, people can choose to disagree and agree. So, in my own opinion, it was just a slight misunderstanding, which, of course, as you said, as the vice chairman of Progressive Governors Forum, I can tell you authoritatively that things are OK. There’s no any problem. Now we are united, as usual”, governor Sani stated.

He added that all the governors in the forum are united behind the leadership of governor Hope Uzodinma, the chairman of the forum.

You know, for some of us that believe in democracy, we believe you cannot just say that you cannot disagree once in a while. But I don’t think he does anything that serious at the moment. There’s no problem. All the governors are together. His Excellency, is the chairman of Progressive Governors Forum”.

Emphasizing his earlier statement, Uba Sani noted that there is no distrust by the members of the forum in its leadership. He said the leadership issue has been settled and that if at all there was need for change in the leadership of the forum, he as the vice chairman of the forum, is expected to take over from Hope Uzodinma.

Not only a serious issue, but a slight disagreement. But it has been resolved. I don’t think from that day you’ve had anything. And of course, if there’s any change of leadership, sitting here as the vice chairman, I could have taken over.

But I can tell you, you see, I was there. And I was the one who made that statement, declared that we are united, everything is OK”.
