A former Federal Legislator and immediate past Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Rural and Community Development, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde (aka ‘Amaechi of Ondo State’), was at the weekend treated to a rousing welcome by political leaders and people of his local government after serving meritorious as a member of the recently dissolved State Executive Council.

During the solidary rally Hon. Kolawole Babatunde expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and entire membership of the party in Akoko South East Local Government Area for their unwavering support to him over the years during ‘a thank you visit to the Local Government Area’.

At the colourful event held at the Babafunke Ajasin Information Centre, Isua-Akoko, where the former House of Reps member (MHR) addressed the Executives of the party in the Local Government level and from across the eleven electoral wards in Akoko South East, specifically acknowledged the late Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve the state as a Cabinet Member for two consecutive terms and for his valuable mentorship that has greatly contributed to his professional growth.

Hon. Kolawole Babatunde said he would remain eternally grateful to the former Governor who provided him the much-needed political platform to continue to contribute his quota to the development of the people and Ondo State after a successful tenure at the National Assembly.

Expressing appreciation to the new Governor, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde thanked Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for retaining him in the Cabinet for a while after the unfortunate demise of former Governor Akeredolu.

Hon. Kolawole Babatunde who highlighted the positive impact of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership on his career and the state’s development, said he has enjoyed a very cordial relationship with Governor Aiyedatiwa since his emergence as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party in the buildup to the October 2020 Governorship elections.

He recalled that he felt humbled when the incumbent Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, honoured him with his presence during the Idagbasoke Ceremony (Elevation to the Council of Elders) of his mother and mother-in-law in May 2024.

Furthermore, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde declared his unequivocal support for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, as he seeks the APC ticket for the 2024 governorship race in view of the assurance by the Governor that he would complete all ongoing projects across the state besides proper funding of party structures.

All the party executives and leaders at the meeting unanimously endorsed the Governor for the November 2024 primary elections.

“This endorsement reflects the confidence and trust that Hon. Kolawole Babatunde places in the leadership abilities of Governor Aiyedatiwa to continue with the progress and development of the state.”

The meeting concluded with a sense of unity and solidarity among the APC members present.

Hon. Kolawole Babatunde was accompanied by notable leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko South East Local Government on the visit including Capt. Oyepata Vincent (retd), Leader of APC Elders Caucus in Akoko South East; Hon. Adaramola Sunday, former State Secretary of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN); Barr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN, CON, a Commissioner-nominee represented by Dr. Agesin Emmanuel who is a former House of Assembly aspirant; Hon. Akinyemi Mabel, Special Assistant to APC National Women Leader; Chief Katola Titus, former Director Ondo State Investment Board; Hon. Segun Bakare, immediate Caretaker Chairman of Akoko South East Local Government; Hon. Reuben Oguntoye, former House of Assembly aspirant; Hon. Ijato Abiodun, former Secretary to the Local Government (SLG); Hon. Balogun Gabriel, former Local Government Supervisor; Hon. Adeeko Emmanuel, former Councillor, Elder Oloruntoba Johnson; Elder Ojomu Moses and a host of others.
