Fubara’s Ally Reveals The Details Of Fubara–Wike Second Peace Accord

A close political ally of governor Siminalayi Fubara who does not want his name mentioned in this article, has responded to the Reliant.ng inquiry about the crux of the peace accord brokered between governor Sim Fubara and Nyesom Wike by president Tinubu.
Responding to our inquiry, the source, a top official of the Rivers state government and strong political ally of governor Sim Fubara, told Reliant.ng that the Fubara’s camp is happy with the outcome of the meeting and president Tinubu’s intervention.
He claimed that the meeting provided the needed clarity over terms and boundaries for the two parties unlike the previous peace deal when the president told the parties to go and define a workable terms for themselves. He explained that that in the first peace deal, Fubara was arm twisted to agree to most of the unfavorable terms given by Wike and his allies, one of which was that the governor would not seek reelection.
According to the source, this time, president Tinubu by himself initiated and outlined the terms for the peace accord which are very clear to the both parties and seems as a win-win situation for them.
“The terms of this peace deal is different. In the former one, the president told them to go and come up with terms but this time around, the president by himself came up with the terms and they are very clear and everybody understands his boundaries now”, the source stated.
He vaguely revealed that governor Sim Fubara has been mandated by the president to keep to the agreement he had which former Nyesom Wike and fulfil every part of it which includes financial obligations.
He also revealed that the commissioner slots which is one of the causes of their feud has been settled in a manner that ensured balance in government especially as Nyesom Wike is in control of the local government and ward councils and that Fubara has never interfered with the administration of the LGAs nor with their allocations, hence, he is granted more commissioner slots than Wike had wanted.
Also, Wike had requested that Fubara’s chief of staff, Edison Ehie be replaced by his loyalist, the president considered Wike’s request as unnecessary, pointing at Wike being in charge of the LGAs.
“There was an agreement between Fubara and Wike before he became governor, the president said he must comply to that agreement especially the money part, maybe through contracts and others. Wike request for Edison Ehie to be replaced was denied and others”.
The source added that president Tinubu sternly warned the two parties not to breach the terms of the accord. He stated that Fubara was commended for his self-control, not resorting to attàcking Wike or confronting with his loyalists in Rivers state during the crisis.
On Fubara’s political future, the source simply stated that the ball is in governor Fubara’s court as though he has been granted the right of first refusal. While we tried to get more details about his claims, the source stated that he would not mention more than what he had stated.
He countered the narrative that governor Sim Fubara knelt and pleaded with Nyesom Wike. According to him, Fubara found favour in Wike’s hand who trusted him and gave him a very rare opportunity; hence, amid their political feud, the relationship they had has not been eroded.
