Fresh Crisis Rocks APM As Makinde And Bala Mohammed Loyalists Tighten Grip

A fresh crisis is emerging within the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) amid allegations that the party’s nomination process ahead of the 2027 elections has been compromised.

party insiders alleged that nomination forms were being strategically reserved for loyalists of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, both of whom have recently aligned with the party. It was further claimed that access to the forms was restricted to aspirants perceived to be supporters of the two governors, effectively sidelining other contenders. Reporter Online Access
An aggrieved aspirant, who pleaded anonymity, accused party officials of deliberately frustrating efforts by some members to participate in the electoral process. The source, as reported, alleged that repeated attempts to obtain nomination forms were ignored without any form of explanation.
The situation reportedly worsened as efforts to reach the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, proved unsuccessful, with neither calls nor text messages returned at the time of filing this report.
While Bala Mohammed is said to have completed his defection into the party, Seyi Makinde is expected to formally join and declare his presidential ambition in the coming days. The development is believed to be reshaping internal power dynamics within the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Further allegations suggest that the party’s membership registration process has been slow and largely manual, allegedly controlled by a small group of officials. This, according to sources, has left many new members unable to verify their status or access party credentials.
Some dissatisfied aspirants maintained that despite meeting all requirements, they were intentionally excluded from the process, describing the arrangement as calculated and exclusionary, with the potential to deepen internal divisions within the party.
