FG expends N1.8 trillion on projects in one state – Umahi

The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, said, Kebbi state is the highest recipient of dividends of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the country with N1.8 trillion naira projects being executed in the state.

Umahi gave these statistics at Gulumbe town Friday in the course of his inspection tour to the site of the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway which traverses 258 kilometres in Kebbi.

“Tinubu has shown love for Kebbi. This is reinforced by expending N1.8 trillion on one single project, the largest of its kind in any state in Nigeria,” he said.

He disclosed that by May 2026, the president will commission the first phase of 50 kilometres, while by the end of the year, a distance of 150 kilometres would be completed.

“Tinubu has approved and released fully the money for compensation for land acquired from individuals and communities for the execution of the project.

“However, payment will only be made when the beneficiaries open bank accounts because the federal government wants to trace where such compensation is paid,” he said.

According to the minister, “We have recruited 8 Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs, to defend this Legacy Project against any misadventure from the so-called opposition.”

Umahi commended Governor Nasir Idris for his massive investment in security and food sufficiency, saying, “Both President Tinubu and Governor Idris have provided logistics and security personnel to safeguard the Super Highway.

“We are thankful to all our security services, the NSA and all heads of security apparatus in Nigeria for your unquantifiable service to our fatherland without which the Renewed Hope Agenda of the president could not have come to fruition.”
