Electrician in court over alleged theft of client’s electrical wires

The prosecution counsel said the offence contravene the provisions of sections 312 and 288 of the panel code.

A36-year-old electrician, Idris Mohammad, was on Friday arraigned in a Life Camp Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, for allegedly stealing his client’s electrical wires worth N417,000.

The police charged Mohammed, who lives in Gwarinpa, Abuja with criminal breach of trust and theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that the complainant, Henry Ugochukwu of Asokoro, Abuja reported the matter at the Gwarinpa Police Station.

Mrs Nwachukwu told the court that sometime in April, the complainant employed the services of the defendant to fix all the electrical fittings in his house.

She said that the defendant dishonesty betrayed the complainant’s trust by stealing one roll of 10mm wire worth N190,000, one roll of 6mm wire worth N115,000, one roll of 1.5mm worth N27,000, and 40m of 10mm wire worth N85,000.

Magistrate Best Ojukwu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of 100,000 and one surety in like sum. Mrs Ojukwu adjourned the case until August 5, for hearing.
