DSS Arrests Alleged Female Gunrunner in Kano with 200 Rounds of Ammunition

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a 25-year-old woman, Nafisa Usman, for allegedly supplying ammunition to terrorists operating in Katsina State.

The suspect was apprehended at a major motor park in Kano after reportedly purchasing ammunition from Nasarawa State for delivery to Kankara.

DSS operatives said she was intercepted in possession of 200 rounds of new ammunition concealed inside bags of garri and rice.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that the ammunition was sourced from Lafia in Nasarawa State and transported to Unguwa Uku motor park in Kano for onward movement to Katsina, where it was intended for bandits in the Kankara forest.

She stated that she had been involved in the trade for about two months, adding that one “Teso,” whom she described as working with a soldier in Lafia, facilitated the supply.

The suspect also alleged that she delivered ammunition to a bandit identified as Mallam Haruna, said to be operating in the Kankara forest.

According to her, she was introduced to the network by a man identified as Sulaiman, a livestock trader based in Kano.

She further claimed to have handled transactions worth about ₦5 million, supplying ammunition to Haruna and other individuals identified as Buba and Abu, who were also said to be operating within the forest.

The suspect expressed regret over her involvement, stating that she had now been exposed.
