DELTA CRIMINAL GANGS FEEL THE H£AT AS POLICE REC0VER ARMS, ARREST SUSPECTS

The fight against violent crime in Delta State recorded another major breakthrough on Monday as operatives of the Delta State Police Command recovered three pump-action guns, three suspected stolen motorcycles, and arrested five suspects linked to criminal activities across the state.

In a series of coordinated operations, police operatives uncovered what authorities described as a significant blow to criminal networks, with firearms and suspected stolen properties seized from the suspects.

The first breakthrough came on July 27, 2026, when operatives of ‘C’ Division, Asaba, intercepted a man identified as Joseph Tyavzua along the Asaba–Onitsha Expressway during a stop-and-search operation.

The suspect, who was reportedly attempting to enter Onitsha on a commercial motorcycle, was allegedly found in possession of a pump-action gun. Although he claimed to be a vigilante member, police said he failed to present any lawful authority permitting him to carry the firearm.

The weapon was immediately recovered, while the suspect was taken into custody as investigators commenced further inquiries.

In another major operation, detectives attached to Ekpan Division launched a swift investigation following the armed robbery of a motorcycle rider along Jakpa Road, Effurun.

The probe led to the arrest of two alleged principal suspects, Edodo Gift, 41, and Emoefe Solomon, 27. Police said the suspects confessed to their involvement and helped investigators track down two alleged receivers of stolen motorcycles — Fodio Bello, 27, and Kabiru Mohammed, 25 — at Otowhe near Oleh.

The operation ended with the recovery of two additional pump-action guns and three motorcycles believed to have been stolen during robbery operations.
