Davido opens up about recording ‘ORIADÉ’ at home instead of in studio

Davido has revealed that most of the tracks on his forthcoming sixth album ‘ORIADÉ’ were recorded at home with his wife and children.

The album is scheduled for release on July 31, coinciding with the 15th anniversary of Davido’s music career.

In an interview with Capital Xtra, the 33-year-old artiste, born David Adeleke, said the domestic setting forced a quieter, more intimate creative approach.

Davido noted that producers flew in from abroad to collaborate personally, and that the album’s direction was also shaped by creative sessions during a two-week stay at Coachella.

He described the new work as reflective of his current phase of gratitude and purpose.

“I recorded most of this album in my house. It was different for me because I am used to recording in the studio outside with my boys with me, alcohol and doing all that,” he said.

“I live with my kids and wife now. I have to record at a low volume. I can only record mainly when they go out—that kind of experience of being with family. Obviously, because my family is there, I cannot have 100 people at the house.

“I had producers flying in to work with me personally. I enjoyed working with them one-on-one. Rather than having loads of people in your ears. That is one thing I enjoyed about this album.”

‘ORIADÉ’ is led by the single ‘I Know Who I Be,‘ released June 26. It follows his 2025 album ‘5ive’.

Since his breakout with ‘Dami Duro,’ the second single from his debut album ‘Omo Baba Olowo,’ in 2012, Davido has released four other albums, including ‘A Good Time’ (2019), ‘A Better Time‘ (2020), ‘Timeless’ (2023) and ‘5ive’ (2025).

He also founded the record label DMW in 2016.
