Court grants Omoyele Sowore, Presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) ₦200 million bail, withhold International passport

Justice Mohammed Umar, in a ruling delivered on Tuesday, 30th June 2026,  fixed Sowore’s bail at two hundred million Naira (#200m), and ordered Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) to retrieve his international passport as well as providing two sureties in like sum.

Justice Umar further affirmed that, the two (2) sureties must provide the same amount mentioned above, while also noting that, one (1) of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, in Ondo State, and the other must own a verified property in choices areas in the FCT.

Recall that, Sowore had earlier prayed the court to recuse Justice Umar from the case, on alleged intimidation, harassment and loss of confidence in the process presided over by the said Judge.
