Charley Boy Criticizes Sheikh Gumi Over Comment on Bandits
Nigerian entertainer and activist Charley Boy has strongly criticized Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi for saying that “attacking bandits will be a mistake” and that they should instead be listened to and negotiated with.
In a video shared online, Sheikh Gumi argued that military action—especially foreign intervention—would worsen insecurity, insisting that dialogue and inclusion in government programs were better approaches.
Reacting, Charley Boy accused Gumi of defending criminals and ignoring the suffering of victims across affected communities. He questioned Gumi’s stance, saying it undermines the pain of families who have lost loved ones or been displaced due to bandit attacks.
Charley Boy urged the cleric to stop justifying violent groups and instead use his influence to advocate for stronger protection for citizens and firm action against those responsible for insecurity.
