The convention is expected to attract thousands of party members and supporters from across the country as the APC prepares for key political activities and internal deliberations.

Supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kano State were seen sleeping on the streets and on the floor of the National Mosque in Abuja while awaiting the party’s national convention scheduled to hold from March 27 to 28, 2026, in the Nigerian capital.

The convention is expected to attract thousands of party members and supporters from across the country as the APC prepares for key political activities and internal deliberations.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, a group of individuals reportedly loyal to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, are seen wearing red attire and caps as they lay on the tiled floor within the premises of the National Mosque in Abuja.

A man who recorded the video is heard speaking in Hausa in the background, lamenting the condition of the supporters and questioning why people enduring economic hardship would travel long distances to support political leaders they believe are responsible for the country’s current situation.

“People, look at what is happening here in Abuja. All the people you are seeing here are our fellow brothers; they are all our own people. They have been beaten, oppressed, and pushed around,” the man said.

“Today, I saw them all over Abuja, especially those from Kano. Did you see them? They are lying and sleeping on the streets and in different places. They said they came for the campaign of Tinubu and Abba.”

He further criticised what he described as the paradox of citizens struggling with poverty while still mobilising in support of political figures, including Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“But look at the condition these people are in, as if they are not the same people that put us into this situation that we are all in. Please look at how they are sleeping. If you check, there is no one among them that has N100 in his account,” he continued.

“Yet today, for just ₦1,000 or ₦2,000, you see them trekking all the way to Abuja to vote for someone who is oppressing them.”

The man also offered prayers while expressing concern about the situation of the supporters.

“May Allah help us and help Islam entirely. Do you see them? If you step outside, you will see them everywhere,” he said.

“They claim they are being taken care of here, but if you go outside and see their condition yourself, you will be extremely shocked. But still, that is not what they are thinking about. May Allah bring relief and help.”

The APC national convention, scheduled to take place between March 27 and 28 in Abuja, is expected to gather delegates, leaders, and supporters of the ruling party from across Nigeria.
